American sculptor and artist born in 1966, Tom Sachs lives and works in New York. Absent from main of stream modern art, he has developed his own technique using everyday objects – their function, their form, their nature – dissecting them, rebuilding them and elaborately making his own copies by hand. His works, on display in the great museums of Europe and the United States, are a comment on the consumer society, technological progress, the relationship between survival and destruction or the power of brands.
