Located on Fifth Avenue and overlooking Central Park, the Guggenheim is one of New York's most famous museums. The building, opened in 1959, is the work of the architect Frank Lloyd Wright and was originally built to house the Solomon R. Guggenheim collection, very representative of the works of Vasily Kandinsky, Paul Klee and Marc Chagall. Proof of the architectural genius of Frank Lloyd Wright and of the avant-garde and visionary spirit of the American art collector Solomon R. Guggenheim, the very original museum space – whether visiting from top to bottom - leaves behind the traditional concept of an exhibition space for one that is focused on presentation.
